I have come to embrace unemployment. I have been working to get my house in order, and buying things that I don't really have the money to be buying. But the best thing about New Orleans is the fact that you can really furnish your house if you have a truck. tons of people just leave unwanted furniture on the side of the road. The free stuff that I've accumulated is: four shelving units, an outdoor able, a desk chair, an upholstered chair, and all of our plates and silver ware. Just kidding about the kitchen stuff, but seriously we have gotten a lot of free furniture.
I thought that I would share some photos of the house. I sent them in the email, but I figured that I should post some here too. Some interesting facts: the house was built in 1890 and was originally a dairy farm. The floors in the den and living room are made out of an extinct pine species. The wood finishing on the first floor and the interior doors are made out of Cyprus wood. All of the rooms have original fire places that don't work any more. We have banana trees and tiki torches in the back yard.
Also, two groups have told me that they were looking at the house. We got it just in time.
One story before I go. Bethany and I were walking down Royal St in the Quarter. There was this naked chick on the sidewalk that covered herself in some type of mud and was sort of rolling around on the ground. She had underwear on, though. It beats the old silver men that don't move, I guess. Lots of people were taking photos of her. I just laughed and walked on, there was nothing else to do. Sorry no photo for the curious minds out there.
what about the ghosts!?
