Dating in Durham

So I don't know about all of you, but dating in the real world has been very interesting for me thus far and I thought that if maybe I shared my stories I could get you all to share some of yours!

You girls got my email about this guys so sorry for the recap:

so most of the times ive gotten hit on have been from drunk undergrads at bars, but this one night we went to a more upscale bar in chapel hill, and I met this guy in his last year of grad school at UNC and like clockwork he called me exactly two days later and asked me to meet him for drinks.
awkward moment #1: he wanted me to meet him at this whisky bar, but you have to be 23 to get in (i know cause ive already gotten kicked out) so right off the bat i had to tell him that i was too young to go to that bar and we had to pick another place. went to a wine bar instead and had a really fun time. that was the week b4 thanksgiving so i told him to give me a call after thanksgiving-we were both coming back to nc that following monday.

but he never called...like all week, and god forbid i just give up. i mean i didnt come off crazy at all on a first date so there was no reason yet for him to not want to go out at least one more time. because im such a stalker, i figured IF his grad program was 5 years i figured that max he was 28 but most likely his phd program was 3-4 years so probably more like 25-26. well date 2 i casually brought up his age (pretty smooth if i do say so myself:)
me: wow you know a lot of good restaurants in the area
cameron: ive been living here a while
me: what like four years
c: no more like seven (i start doing the math)
me: so let me guess, your like 28-29 years old
c: no...no im 30.

now i understand why he didnt call me after date 1-what 30 year old guy wants to date a girl right out of college! fml.

it gets better. so we texted a bit over xmas break but again hes fucking 30 so i kind of figured it was over. but no friday night im at a friends house and he calls me at like 10. Well it turns out he was in NYC and drunk and meant to call his SISTER sarah not me. woops. i tried to give him an out and just be like, no prob ive called the wrong person before have a good night, but he wanted to talk so i ended up talking to him for a good ten minutes. not only did i get a mistaken call but also a drunk dial all wrapped up into one.

i also went speed dating last week: 8 dates in one hour-here are the highlights:
one guy was a very short mexican guy with a beard and obviously older, with his very thick accent he asked me what i like to do on the weekends. when i asked him the same thing he said: I like to invite new people over to my house because i like to meet new people all the time. I know he didnt mean to come off that way but he sounds like a creeper.
also I was Lady X and so one guy came up to my table and just started saying, "Oh Lady X are you going to ask me naughty questions that are X-rated!" I was not impressed to say the least so my response was "Excuse me? I dont even know your name."
He was a business guy-enough said.
I did meet another guy that I didnt actually speed date with so it was worth it! haha

  1. Go ahead and date as much as you like, but remember your promise. Just over 5 years and counting.

  2. Greg, I hate to mention this, but I'm hammering out the details of a year-before-she-finishes-grad-school deal with Sarah.

She's insisting I get a job though. Kind of a bummer.

  3. That's fine, as long as you're divorced by our wedding date.
