life and one good story

So, I know that I have been awol for a while, but I'm back. I attribute this to the fact that my life has been rather uninterested in comparison with the blogs that have been posted recently. Unfortuntaely, I haven't seen any HJ's, BJ's or in fact any HSJ. (I also haven't been to the feve in a while.)

For those that are wondering HSJ = high school jobs, meaning that I still don't have a job yet. I am in the city of sin, but am unemployed. I've had two interviews, but neither of them have worked out. Refreshing our FML theme, school starts here in 5-15 days. That means, I may be in a classroom in a week, but without any time to prepare for the semester. Can't wait.

To catch you guys up on what I've been doing this summer (short and sweet). I taught for 4 weeks in Phoenix or as we like to say, Furnix. I taught a mixed 7th and 8th grade class math and reading in a group of four. We basically tag teamed it. The greatest challange we soon realized was the fact that many of the students came to the US within the last year. My personal favorite story is Veronica, who when I told her to write her name on her paper, just gave me a blank look. I knew at that point, it was going to be fun summer.

Unfortunately the class was too good. No bahavioral problems to speak of. Just talking but with paid attention during lessons if they were good.

Funny story: I raffled off a book as one item in a good behavioral raffle, that I read a little while ago called Cujo by Stephen King. This book was competeing with Snicker and other temporary pleasures, so I gave it an astounding introduction, so good in fact that the first student picked the book. The problem was, and I only realized it later, was the fact that this book contains very explicet, let's call them adult situations, which I forgot about. That includes an affair (w/details), and a crazy horny guy going to this lady's house to rape her, finding her not there, he wrecks the place and decides to leave a sticky present on her bedspread (your imagination can fill in the rest). Realizing that I will be kicked out of TFA and teaching forever if his parents were to read this book, I have to take it back after a brief explanaiton. That was a close call.

This post is getting long, I'll get back soon. I should have a house in a few days!!!! I'll keep you informed.
